BRING IT ON!
We don't always get to hear about the good priests out there...So, here's a modern day example of a parish priest who took on a local poltician. As mentioned earlier, a local parish invited RI Congressman Patrick Kennedy to speak at their parish anniversary banquet. Many of the guests were shocked to see that Patrick, notoriously anti-Catholic these days, was a featured speaker. One of the invited guests was not only shocked but became apoplectic. Fr. John Kiley, pastor of St. Leo the Great, in the face of such scandal and hypocrisy, seized the moment to confront Kennedy. The following is a paraphrased discussion that took place after speaking with Fr. Kiley about the matter.
Fr. Kiley: Congressman Kennedy, last week you called the Vatican bigoted and discrimnatory and this week you are praising parish life. That's hypocrisy!
Kennedy responded by stating this was different, it was a parish event.
Fr. Kiley: Last week you were on the front page of the Catholic Visitor for rejecting the US Bishop's plea for a marriage amendment (man & woman) and here you are tonight speaking to a Catholic parish.
Kennedy replied that it isn't his role to judge, if 2 people love one another, who is he to deny them their rights?
Kennedy (spineless as he is!) moved on to shake hands (so much for separation of Church & State!)
THE CHURCH NEEDS MORE SHEPHERDS LIKE FR. KILEY, UNAFRAID TO STAND UP TO THESE POLITICAL CLOWNS!
MORE WARRIORS, FEWER WHIMPS!
Read Fr. Kiley's Quiet Corner for 26th Sunday (guess what the topic is?)
