'Theologians' ponder how long is too long for pontificate.

"People realize now how injurious a lengthy pontificate ... can be," says the Rev. Richard McBrien, professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Among the problems is that "one man puts too deep a stamp on the church and its leadership," he says. The result is a lack of checks and balances".

PADRE POINT: The only thing that hasn't been checked and balanced is Fr. McBrien's vocation! Funny how the media always seems to find McBrien when they want negative comments towards our Holy Father. That should go over well on judgement day...good luck 'Richard!'
