"I would like to personally thank the Providence Journal for reminding all Catholics in Sunday’s Journal that US congressman, Patrick Kennedy, “on gay marriage, which he favors…has been unafraid to confront his own Roman Catholic Church (Oct. 31, 2004, pg. E.01).” After the Vatican upheld the long tradition, based upon Sacred Scripture, to oppose same sex ‘marriage’, Rep. Kennedy had some insulting words towards our Church. "I see the policy of opposing same-sex marriages or unions, whatever you call it, as bigotry or discrimination (Providence Journal, Aug 6, 2003).” As Rep. Kennedy seeks re-election, he continues to visit various Catholic institutions, such as the recent dedication at Providence College’s Smith Art Center. Sadly, many have a short memory and seem to forget his pro-abortion and same-sex ‘marriage positions, as well as, his insults towards the Church. This Tuesday, may all Catholics stand united and elect officials who will uphold the sanctity of marriage and life, always being respectful towards our faith."
