MY LETTER v. KERRY to Providence Journal (hopefully to be printed)
"Curt Schilling was brought to Boston to deliver a World Series Championship. He has completed that mission! However, Curt Schilling is also right on the money with his most recent pitch. He said the following, 'These past couple of weeks, Sox fans ... trusted me when it was my turn on the mound…now you can trust me on this: President Bush is the right leader for our country (Boston Globe AP, Oct. 31, 2004).” Some may say Curt should stick to baseball and perhaps I, as a priest, should stick to Theology. Yet, every one of us should have a great interest in this election. Over 4000 unborn babies are aborted daily in our country while the very foundation of marriage and family is continuously threatened. Sen. John Kerry, endorsed by Planned Parenthood (leading abortion provider), has made it clear that he will work to promote and support abortion on demand. President Bush is not perfect but he does value the life of the unborn, as well as, the sanctity of marriage. There are many issues that voter’s need to examine but the very right to life and existence must be the number one issue. Without the right to live and exist, whether in the womb or not, no other issue begins to make sense. All other issues simply improve the lives we already possess. This Tuesday, may all of us, whether we are a Red Sox pitcher or not, vote for life and work to rebuild a culture of life."
Rev. John A. Sistare

MY LETTER v. Kennedy to PROVIDENCE JOURNAL (hopefully to be printed)
"I would like to personally thank the Providence Journal for reminding all Catholics in Sunday’s Journal that US congressman, Patrick Kennedy, “on gay marriage, which he favors…has been unafraid to confront his own Roman Catholic Church (Oct. 31, 2004, pg. E.01).” After the Vatican upheld the long tradition, based upon Sacred Scripture, to oppose same sex ‘marriage’, Rep. Kennedy had some insulting words towards our Church. "I see the policy of opposing same-sex marriages or unions, whatever you call it, as bigotry or discrimination (Providence Journal, Aug 6, 2003).” As Rep. Kennedy seeks re-election, he continues to visit various Catholic institutions, such as the recent dedication at Providence College’s Smith Art Center. Sadly, many have a short memory and seem to forget his pro-abortion and same-sex ‘marriage positions, as well as, his insults towards the Church. This Tuesday, may all Catholics stand united and elect officials who will uphold the sanctity of marriage and life, always being respectful towards our faith."

Three Members of US Bishops Review Board on Scandals Donated to Kerry Campaign
Robert S. Bennett, Pamela D. Hayes, & Leon E. Panetta all have given funds to the Kerry campaign. So, let me get this straight, the US Bishops conference appoint these men and women to protect children from abuse. Yet, these board members turn around and give money to a man (Kerry) who is endorsed by Planned Parenthood (leading abortion provider) and will work to keep the slaughter (ABUSE) of innocent children in the womb.
The amazing thing is that the Bishops only picked 12 to sit on this board...here's 3 of them!!!

Last Debate: Kerry on Abortion
‘The New York Times reports that some Catholic archbishops are telling their church members that it would be a sin to vote for a candidate like you because you support a woman’s right to choose an abortion and unlimited stem cell research. What is your reaction to that?’’

KERRY: "I completely respect their views. I am a Catholic. And I grew up learning how to respect those views, but I disagree with them, as do many,’’ Kerry said. ‘‘I believe that I can’t legislate or transfer to another American citizen my article of faith. What is an article of faith for me is not something that I can legislate on somebody who doesn’t share that article of faith. I believe that a woman’s choice is between a woman, God and her doctor. And that’s why I support that. Now I will not allow somebody to come in and change Roe v. Wade. I will defend the right of Roe v. Wade.’’

PADRE POINT: First of all, abortion is not an article of faith but rather, MORALS.
Secondly, according to the Senator, the choice to kill an unborn child is “between a woman, GOD, and her doctor”? So, which God is this that Kerry worships…Baal (pagan god that children were sacrificed to)? Finally, Kerry states that he is ‘Catholic’ but disagrees with the Church on an authoritative teaching of morality….but he respects the Bishops. Don’t obedience and respect go hand in hand when it comes to objective truth?
My point: Sen. Kerry is unfit for office! If he can’t be honest and faithful to God & the Church, how could we ever trust him to lead our country?

Fr. Pavone and Fr. McBrien square off on the O'Reilly Factor
(ABOVE LINK: Entire Transcript)
(Segment below)
"...PAVONE: Father McBrien, are you forgetting the word "proportionate"?
MCBRIEN: No. In fact -- in fact, Ratzinger...
PAVONE: Then how come you didn't mention it?
MCBRIEN: Ratzinger used the word. I've just written a poem about this.
PAVONE: But you didn't. Listen, you're misleading this audience. The cardinal said that one can vote...
MCBRIEN: I'm glad you're not.
PAVONE: The cardinal said -- he used the words "for proportionate reasons." Now I ask Father McBrien, I ask our viewers what is proportionate to 3,500...
MCBRIEN: Well, let me give you...
O'REILLY: Who, whoa, whoa. Let him finish, Father. I'll give you time.
PAVONE: ... 3,500 innocent children being deliberately destroyed, not my words, but the words of these abortionists, heads being crushed, arms and legs being torn off.
O'REILLY: All right. So you put it at the head of the list.
PAVONE: There's nothing more proportionate.
O'REILLY: OK. I got it.
PAVONE: Now that -- we don't need a Vatican cardinal to tell us about that..."

PADRE POINT:
ONE, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church??? (Thanks be to God for Fr. Pavone and other strong Bishops but where is our unity as a Church....Bishops, Priests, etc...disagreeing on the fundamental defense of precious innocent life, some endorsing Kerry, who has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood!).

Courageous Catholic Seminarians denied access to Kerry rally
"Last evening a group of seminarians dressed in clerical attire and the sweatshirts you see to the left, and laity gathered to offer a pro-life witness at the Kerry/Edwards Debate Watch Party and Rally held at the America's Center downtown St. Louis.
The group, which was about 25 in number, gathered at 5:30 pm for prayer and instructions, after that we walked to the America's Center while praying the Stations of the Cross. When we arrived we got in line to enter the event like everyone else. Two of us carried two bags containing signs for the whole group to hold. We (the two of us with the signs) were immediately confronted by some "Firemen for Kerry" who were providing security for the event. They informed us that we would be unable to take the signs into the event..."

PADRE POINT: Kerry, they are your fellow Catholic brothers....I mean you were even an altar boy...so what was the problem? TRUE COLORS REVEALED by KERRY CAMPAIGN!

Our Lady of Mt Carmel Statue falls as Church closes
"After 99 years of feasts, funerals, weddings, and baptisms, parishioners who went to the final Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in East Boston yesterday declared that they had witnessed a miracle.
The church's statue of the Virgin Mary, which stood in front of the altar, tipped over suddenly and thudded to the floor after Mass...
Trembling and weeping, they called it a sign from God protesting the Boston Archdiocese's decision to close their church, part of the lifeblood of the working-class, Italian-American neighborhood since 1905. 'This is a miracle!" Gerri Costa exclaimed after parishioners righted the 5-foot statue, which was missing a few pieces from its back. ''Miracles do happen, and this is a miracle. Viva La Madonna!"

READY FOR A GUNFIGHT!

(ABOVE: Fr. Ray (left) at the O.K. Corral, Tombstone AZ)
Westerly Sun: "Under the direction of the Rev. Raymond Suriani, St. Pius X Church on Elm Street handed out copies of a leaflet called "A Brief Catechism for Catholic Voters" at Masses last Sunday. Five hundred of the booklets were donated to the church by a parishioner, he said. Among the questions addressed in the 16-page pamphlet are questions of conscience and the battle of good and evil as it pertains to morality and the right to life."The church wants to make it clear to Catholics that, if you truly embrace what the church teaches on the sanctity of life then that needs to be your primary concern when you elect officials who make policies that affect all of us," Suriani said. "From conception until natural death we are affected by the policies made by our lawmakers and the church wants to see people elected who have a respect for all human life from conception until natural death. "In the leaflet, Catholics are warned that any abortion-rights candidate, "disqualifies himself from receiving a Catholic's vote," and concludes that voting for such a candidate simply "with the knowledge that the candidate is pro-abortion is to become an accomplice in the moral evil of abortion."

Rep. Peter Lewis (D) in Westerly responds:
"an individual's right to their religious and personal beliefs. "Those decisions can be guided by religion, morals and secular law," he said, "but ultimately each person should have the right to determine what is in their own best interests."

PADRE POINT: So, Peter, if it is my best interest to hurt or kill another person, that's OK? When does the well being of another (unborn baby) take precedence over my 'best interest'? See History 101: Nazi Germany, as well as, slavery....common sense isn't so common anymore!!!!

An Open Letter to John Kerry By Raymond Flynn

(in the NEW YORK TIMES Sunday Oct. 10th)
The John Kerry for President Web site proclaims that Senator Kerry “will only nominate individuals to the federal bench whose records demonstrate ... the right to choose”. Removing political correctness from that statement, Senator Kerry, you have announced that you will only support people to the Federal Judiciary who support killing unborn children.
Yet, the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops mandates that:
“the killing of an unborn child is alwaysintrinsically evil and can never be justified”. . . and that those “who formulate laws . . .have an obligation in conscience to work towardcorrecting morally defective laws, lest they beguilty of cooperating in evil and in sinningagainst the common good”.
Senator Kerry, two of the most capable lawyers that we know — who are also Catholics faithful to the Bishops’ pro-life mandate — are Harvard Law Professor Mary Ann Glendon and noted attorney Philip Moran. Your litmus test would bar these and many other highly qualified people from the judiciary. Why do you, Senator Kerry, have a “litmus test” for judicial candidates that discriminates against Faithful Catholics?
This letter is not on behalf of or in opposition to your candidacy, but I am asking you to announce today that you will not impose any abortion litmus test on candidates for the Federal Judiciary ... especially those who are Faithful Catholics.
Signed,Raymond Flynn

Kerry the loyal 'catholic'....NOT!!!
(I liked M. J. Fox was more tolerable as 'Alex', the family Republican on Family Ties!)
"The hard truth is that when it comes to stem-cell research, this president is making the wrong choice to sacrifice science for extreme right-wing ideology, and that's unacceptable,'' Kerry said during an emotion-filled appearance at Winnacunnet High School, where he was joined by actor Michael J. Fox and others who have diseases they believe may be cured if there is expanded stem-cell research. "The fact is that the majority of the American people support stem-cell research, and it's high time we had a president of the United States who does too.''
He added: "It tells a story about how he makes decisions. It tells a story about how he sees the world. It tells a story about the choices that we face in this election, and why this election is so important to America.''

PS) I wonder who else has extreme right-wing ideology? (what a loyal 'catholic' Johnny boy is!)

What about our First Amendment right of freedom of religion?
The U.S. Supreme Court refused Monday to overturn the California Women's Contraceptive Equity Act, which requires Catholic Charities to provide access to contraception as part of its employee healthcare prescription benefits.
"This decision is truly an affront to all people of faith and a clear violation of the First Amendment right of freedom of religion," said Brown. "By forcing Catholic Charities to include coverage for contraceptives in their prescription drug benefits plan, the court is forcing the Church to act contrary to its stated beliefs.
"Church leaders must not allow the Supreme Court to force its morality of secular humanism onto the Catholic Church," she continued in a press release. "Unfortunately, it appears that the only option left is for the Catholic employers to drop the employee healthcare benefits altogether." Read American Life League report

American Life League creates another strong Ad.
American Life League has published an ad in today's Washington Times alerting Cardinal Theodore McCarrick and Archbishop Sean O'Malley of the likelihood that a number of pro-abortion Catholics will attend Sunday's Red Mass celebration at Washington's St. Matthew's Cathedral and may attempt to receive Holy Communion. "These Catholic public figures must be held accountable to Church teachings," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "It is perfectly clear that you cannot be both Catholic and pro-abortion."
